{"id":3413,"date":"2019-10-07T22:48:17","date_gmt":"2019-10-08T05:48:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/?p=3413"},"modified":"2019-10-07T22:48:17","modified_gmt":"2019-10-08T05:48:17","slug":"chinook-winds-fall-coast-poker-classic-series-championship","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/?p=3413","title":{"rendered":"Chinook Winds Fall Coast Poker Classic Series Championship"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright size-medium wp-image-3414\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/stuart_young-225x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/stuart_young-225x300.jpg 225w, https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/stuart_young.jpg 720w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 225px) 100vw, 225px\" \/>I was looking at the sweet, sweet trophy\u00a0<strong>Stuart Young<\/strong> won at the\u00a0<strong>Bend Poker Room<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>Monster Stack Main Event<\/strong> at the end of the month and realizing that there weren&#8217;t any trophies given out at the\u00a0<strong>Chinook Winds Fall Coast Poker Classic<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0<strong>John Gribben\u00a0and I chopped the second of the $50K GTD tournaments<\/strong> heads-up the second night of the series, my original suggestion was to make a deal, then play out for a set amount.\u00a0<strong>Tournament Director Matthew Moring<\/strong> said that was a no-go, any deal immediately ended the tournament (my suspicion was that had more to do with it being 5am than a hard and fast rule), so John and I agreed to an even chop. I asked for the win, John said he would like to get the picture because it was his first big win (and he&#8217;d pay me a little bit extra). I haven&#8217;t actually ever had a winner photo for a big tournament myself, and as it was, Matt took a couple of photos of the both of us as well as John by himself, and this is the one that ended up getting sent out.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-3322\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/50k-winners-1024x1024.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"584\" height=\"584\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/50k-winners-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/50k-winners-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/50k-winners-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/50k-winners-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/09\/50k-winners.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 584px) 100vw, 584px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But no trophy. If there had been or if there had been a casino championship on the line (as ther is for a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsop.com\/2019\/circuit\/\"><strong>World Series of Poker Circuit<\/strong><\/a> series or at the upcoming\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.wildhorseresort.com\/casino\/games\/poker\/\"><strong>Wildhorse Fall Poker Round Up<\/strong>,\u00a0<\/a>the decision would have had to be a bit different. How much\u2014if anything\u2014would the trophy be worth to me in the negotiation? Do I care about the win on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pokerdb.thehendonmob.com\/player.php?a=r&amp;n=292132\"><strong>my Hendon Mob\u00a0profile<\/strong><\/a>? Do I want to be known as being involved in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pokernews.com\/news\/2016\/12\/william-kassouf-patrick-serda-chop-ept-prague-high-roller-26642.htm\"><strong>only the third-most-egregious thing that Will Kassouf<\/strong><\/a> did?<\/p>\n<p>Do\u00a0<strong>Player of the Year<\/strong>,\u00a0<strong>Global Poker Index<\/strong>, or\u2014most importantly\u2014<strong>series champion<\/strong> points matter to me? If there&#8217;s a monetary reward (as at Wildhorse) or some other benefit that accrues to top performers (the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsop.com\/2019\/circuit\/leaderboard\/\"><strong>Global Casino Championship<\/strong> contenders on the\u00a0<strong>WSOPC Leaderboard<\/strong><\/a> can attend for free), then a friendly chop is not going to happen (<strong>#TeamNoChop<\/strong> c\/o\u00a0<strong>Angela Jordison<\/strong>).<\/p>\n<p>Just for kicks, I went through and assigned points to players in the Fall Coast Poker Classic using the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsop.com\/2019\/circuit\/2019%2020%20WSOP%20CIRCUIT%20POINTS%20MODEL.pdf\">WSOP Circuit system for non-Main Event tournaments<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<table>\n<tbody>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">1st \u2014 50 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">2nd \u2014 37.5 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">3rd \u2014 30 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">4th \u2014 27.5 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">5th \u2014 25 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">6th \u2014 22.5 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">7th \u2014 20 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">8th \u2014 17.5 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">9th \u2014 15 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">Remaining 20% of those in the money \u2014 10 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">Remaining 30% of those in the money &#8211; 5 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<tr>\n<td style=\"text-align: center;\">Remaining 50% of those in the money \u2014 2.5 points<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>I didn&#8217;t count the Fall Coast Classic Main Event with the same point system as the WSOPC Main Events because it doesn&#8217;t automatically get the winner into anything (the winner at each WSOPC stop is automatically free-rolled into the Global Poker Championship) and because the price disparity between most of the events isn&#8217;t as great as at a WSOPC stop. My preference here would be to average out the points assigned to position in the case of chops, but the WSOP doesn&#8217;t do that. So here goes!<\/p>\n<p>First off are the folks who won events without accruing any other points: That&#8217;s 50 points each for\u00a0<strong>Casey Ring\u00a0<\/strong>(Main Event),\u00a0<strong>Adam Schneider\u00a0<\/strong>(Monday evening $10K GTD freeze-out with an 11-way chop),\u00a0<strong>Alex Kuzarov<\/strong> (#22 $40K GTD with a 6-way deal),\u00a0<strong>Robert Fitzgerald<\/strong> (#11 $10K GTD HORSE with what looks like a 6-way deal),\u00a0<strong>Robert Squires<\/strong> (#14 O8, maybe another 6-way deal),\u00a0<strong>Tri Ton<\/strong> (#1 $125K GTD), and\u00a0<strong>Jason Heiner<\/strong>\u00a0(#7 $40K GTD 6-max, looks like a 4-way ICM chop).\u00a0<strong>Andy Su<\/strong> won #2 ($50K GTD),\u00a0<strong>Michael Mackie<\/strong> got 50 points for #10 ($30K GTD Seniors, some sort of FT deal),\u00a0<strong>Gilbert Marquez\u00a0<\/strong>got 1st in #18 ($25K GTD Big O, 3-way deal involving\u2014oh, no!\u2014Angela, how could you?), and\u00a0<strong>Dan Anderson\u00a0<\/strong>took 50 for #21 ($150K GTD High Roller).<\/p>\n<p>Two players won a tournament and min-cashed another (2.5 points):\u00a0<strong>Carl Oman<\/strong> won #17 ($40K GTD Big Bounty) and cashed the 6-Max;\u00a0<strong>John Gribben<\/strong> won #5 (see above) and cashed the Main.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Richard Imel<\/strong> took 11th in #5 (5 points) and won #13 Super Boss Bounty for 55 points.\u00a0<strong>Bohr He<\/strong> and\u00a0<strong>Kevin Buck<\/strong> are the first players in this list who\u00a0<em>did not<\/em>\u00a0win an event but have more points than some of the players who did. Buck made the final table of #1, took third in #5, and cashed in #17. He was also at the final table for #5, took 6th in the 6-Max, and 9th in the Main Event.\u00a0<strong>Jake Dahl<\/strong> final-tabled #14 HORSE, placed 3rd in $14 O8. and picked up 15th in the Main Event for his 55 points.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Cody<\/strong> <strong>Rogan<\/strong> was the third-place finisher for points with 57.5. He started strong with 4th place in #1, placed 4th again in #8, and min-cashed in #13 to pull just ahead of the rest of the pack.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Michael Freedom<\/strong> is the runner-up in points with 65 after a 2nd-place in #10 (Seniors) and 4th in #22. 37.5 for the former and 27.5 for the latter.<\/p>\n<p>And the champeen is <strong>Graham Adam Duke<\/strong>, who picked up an remarkable 82.5 points, well ahead of the pack.
