Woohoo!<\/p>\n<p>I started off Wednesday morning with an online\u00a0<strong>$1,500 PLO Hi-Lo<\/strong>, and when I didn&#8217;t get very far, I went down to the satellite room and played two\u00a0<strong>$43 NLHE Satellites<\/strong>, busting in the first round on bullet 1 and pulling out a tricky comeback on the second. I was short-stacked through most of the game, then sucked out with <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"queen of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">Q<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"jack of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">J<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span><\/span> against <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"ace of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">A<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"king of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">K<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span><\/span> which managed to keep me alive into three-handed play, then I put a couple of brutal hits on the gentleman who was the big stack for almost the entire game and I ended up with two $100 vouchers for my entry into\u00a0<strong>Event #7 NLHE Seniors<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">You can just about make out my stack past the huge stack of 1K chips of the guy to my left <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/WildhorseCasino?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@WildhorseCasino<\/a> Seniors. I had a good start, I know that much, with about three times the starting stack three hours into the game, with about half the field remaining. I spent a good portion of the first part of the game sitting next to\u00a0<strong>Thomas Schultheis<\/strong>, who was the series champion a few years back, and who&#8217;s medium-distantly-related to me by marriage.<\/p>\n<p>I went through something like six table changes during the course of the game\u2014including ending back at the same seat in the middle of the room twice\u2014and lost a third of my stack in a blind on blind hand to <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"two of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">2<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"four of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">4<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span><\/span> just before dinner. We were in the money just before the 9pm (after a noon start and a 1-hour dinner break.<\/p>\n<p>Went for two more hours, getting close to the final table when I shoved <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"ace of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">A<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"king of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">K<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span><\/span> and got called by <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"nine of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">9<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"nine of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">9<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span><\/span>. The flop of <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"jack of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">J<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"jack of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">J<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"queen of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">Q<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span><\/span> gave me the dreaded too many outs, and I just missed the unofficial final table and a sparkly hat. The big stack in the picture above belonged to\u00a0<strong>Hamid Siddiqui<\/strong>, who went out just before I did, after suffering some major losses following the two-table redraw.<\/p>\n<p>My\u00a0<strong>High Roller<\/strong> experience the next day was short and ugly. I lost some chips early on, battled my way back to near starting stack, then picked up <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-d\" title=\"ace of diamonds\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">A<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">\u2666<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-d\" title=\"two of diamonds\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">2<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">\u2666<\/span><\/span><\/span> in the big blind and called a raise along with three others. The flop was <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-d\" title=\"king of diamonds\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">K<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">\u2666<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"six of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">6<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-d\" title=\"four of diamonds\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">4<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">\u2666<\/span><\/span><\/span> and I called a bet, then an even bigger bet on the <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-c\" title=\"two of clubs\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">2<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">\u2663<\/span><\/span><\/span> turn (I was heads-up with the original raiser by this point). When the <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-s\" title=\"two of spades\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">2<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">\u2660<\/span><\/span><\/span> came on the river, I stupidly though I was good with the trips, but my opponent had <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"six of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">6<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"six of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">6<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span><\/span> in his hand and I was out after just ninety minutes. Congrats to my poker buddy\u00a0<strong>Steve Myers<\/strong> for cashing 6th place, after arriving late because of a terrible wreck on I84 on the way out.<\/p>\n<p>I went on a little bit of a rampage (not the kind where you make money) after the High Roller bustout: dropped a buyin at <strong>0.1\/0.25 PLO <\/strong>on Ignition, Got to 30\/130 in a <strong>$2,500 NLHE<\/strong>,\u00a0\u00a0then 45\/84 in a\u00a0<strong>4K NLHE 6-Max<\/strong>. Went downstairs and bought into the\u00a0<strong>10\/20 Omaha Hi-Lo<\/strong> game, was almost felted, got quads that brought me almost even, then ran it back down. And that was all mostly before dinner.<\/p>\n<p>After dinner, I went back to the room and bricked 6 tournaments, including the\u00a0<strong>Thousandaire Maker<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>My poker travel partner,\u00a0<strong>David Long<\/strong>, and I decided to head back to Portland Friday morning \u2014we both had stuff crop up at home. I played some more online cash PLO, with mixed results, busted the Thousandaire Maker and a $4K NLHE Turbo, then min-cashed a 77-player\u00a0<strong>$500 PLO8 Turbo.<\/strong> Saturday I played (and busted) three online tournaments, and lost a buyin at\u00a0<strong>0.1\/0.25 NLHE Zone<\/strong>. Sunday, I was out of the Thousandaire Maker in two hands (he\u00a0<em>did<\/em> have an ace; <span class=\"inline-cards\"><span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"jack of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">J<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span> <span class=\"inline-card inline-card-x\" title=\"jack of unspecified\"><span class=\"inline-card-rank\">J<\/span><span class=\"inline-card-suit\">x<\/span><\/span><\/span> no good!) and a\u00a0<strong>$5K NLHE<\/strong>, then there weren&#8217;t enough people signed up for the Thousandaire Maker to get it started, and I played a 6-Max (briefly) before doubling my buyin at cash PLO. That is all.<\/p>\n<h2>Pacific Northwest Poker Leaderboard<\/h2>\n<p><b>Kevin MacPhee<\/b> was over in\u00a0<strong>Rozvadov<\/strong>\u00a0last week, defending the title in the <strong>Main Event\u00a0<\/strong>of the\u00a0<strong>World Series of Poker Europe; <\/strong>he just missed making the final table <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pokernews.com\/tours\/wsope\/2017-world-series-of-poker-europe\/main-event\/chips.193466.htm\">after\u00a0<strong>Maria Ho<\/strong> drew out to a king-high straight to crack his kings<\/a>.
