{"id":1710,"date":"2016-11-20T19:04:43","date_gmt":"2016-11-21T03:04:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/?p=1710"},"modified":"2016-11-20T19:04:43","modified_gmt":"2016-11-21T03:04:43","slug":"worth-a-post-of-its-own","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/?p=1710","title":{"rendered":"Worth a Post of Its Own"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>One of the things about adversity is <strong>it can sometimes bring people together<\/strong>, and this summer&#8217;s uncertainty over <strong>the direction of poker clubs in Portland<\/strong> would seem to be one of those times.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve anguished in the past when venues\u00a0in the Northwest <strong>scheduled series against one another<\/strong>\u2014by design or by accident\u2014because the <strong>pool of NW players is relatively small<\/strong>,\u00a0<em>and\u00a0<\/em>because we only get a <strong>limited number of series<\/strong> in the first place. Having to choose between one or the other really sucks, especially if you end up with some other conflict.<\/p>\n<p>So it&#8217;s great to see <strong>the two major clubs in town<\/strong> emulating the four-casino\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/socalpokerchampionships.com\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>SoCal Poker Championship <\/strong><\/a>in LA by running the first series in town since the spring, with two events at\u00a0<strong>Final Table Poker Club<\/strong> and two at\u00a0<strong>Portland Meadows Poker Room<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The Poker Mutant is going to be occupied with a birthday and an anniversary most of the weekend, naturally, but <strong>congratulations to everyone at the clubs for coming together to make this happen<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_0900.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-1711\" src=\"http:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_0900.jpg\" alt=\"img_0900\" width=\"952\" height=\"1097\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_0900.jpg 952w, https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_0900-260x300.jpg 260w, https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_0900-768x885.jpg 768w, https:\/\/www.mutantpoker.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/IMG_0900-889x1024.jpg 889w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 952px) 100vw, 952px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>One of the things about adversity is it can sometimes bring people together, and this summer&#8217;s uncertainty over the direction of poker clubs in Portland would seem to be one of those times.
